Mercado del puerto

The "Market of the Port" was founded in 1868. It is a great place where you can find different restaurants to eat Uruguayan food and drink. Also, you can find local crafts, musicians, dancers, and painters. Saturday is the day to go, it fills up with families and friends. Great atmosphere.

Museo del Carnaval ("Carnaval" Museum)

The Carnaval Museum is located in the Historic Old City of Monevideo (Ciudad Vieja), across the street from the Port and next to the "Mercado del Puerto" (principal gastronomic center of the country). This Museum honors the Carnaval as a cultural heritage, as conserving, protecting, documenting and exhibiting the collections that constituted the Carnaval of Uruguay. It is an interactive Museum where you learn, have fun and enjoy!
